Right fielder Ryan Sweeney had 4 hits at the ballpark where the SSB SSB Tar
Heels beat the Columbus Crowd 4 to 1.
SSB brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 3rd inning with the help
of 3 hits. Derrek Lee led off the inning for SSB when he doubled. After an
out was recorded, Sweeney stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Fred Lewis
got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Curtis
Granderson was up next and he delivered a one-base hit. That early scoring
held up. Overall SSB out-hit Columbus 12 to 9.
The victory went to Hiroki Kuroda(5-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 1 run.
Brad Lidge recorded his 16th save. Jake Peavy(4-6) absorbed the loss. He
got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
